
Hannah Twynnoy and Tyger

Hannah Twynnoy was the first person in the UK to be killed by a tiger. She was a barmaid in The White Lion pub in Malmesbury, in 1703 a travelling circus came to Malmesbury, Hannah teased the tiger, the tiger escaped and killed Hannah. It is a story from our lovely town of Malmesbury. Hannah's grave can be seen in Malmesbury Abbey.
