William Stumpe bought Malmesbury Abbey from Henry VIII in 1539, he was a clothier, politician and rich merchant.. He had dinner with Henry VIII in the great hall of Tower house at the end of Oxford Street.
It is thought that before dinner, Henry and William went hunting in Braydon Forest.
